Why don't you go to your local bottle tester and see if they have any decommisioned bottles that you can have they alredy have a hole in them somewhere so they are safe to cut where ever you want.

they dont just need to have a hole in them the testers acturly have to cut them in half by law

even if it dose have a hole in it the metal is still dangeras to cut
because the steel when under pressure (from compressed gasses)
will absorb some of the gasses into it thus making it dangeras to cut without proper eqwipment same with 44 gallon drums never cut them open with a grinder or gas axe ether they are known to blow up aswell

see I tried to tell Justin this BEFORE he plasma cut ours in half.

the gas bottle didnt blow up - but he lost his eyebrows when he cut the kerosene drum (without rinsing it)

I tuly love the kiwi "shee'll be right attitude" - make natural selection that much easier

Yeah me repeatedly. So far.

Done everything from lpg small to LPG really big (The ones that the petrol stations used to have above ground, had to weld three of them into a big cylinder after cutting the ends off.)
Oxy is OK to do if you are sensible and careful but don't think about doing Acetylene cylinders.

Always make the first cut into the cylinder when it is full of soapy water. This is of course having drilled out the bronze fitting to get the water in. Drill it slow.

Got a mate who needs his handgrips on his Harley modified so he can ride because of the old 44gal drum and a gas axe trick.

Dead right there - only way to be sure the gas is out.

Guess what's more dangerous than a tank full of LPG...

...a tank that had lpg and is now empty cos now its full of vapour

Same goes for kero and other volatile liquids (compressed flamable gasses are worse...)
