Found this while googling chain mail, note they do specify that they do reinactment steel chain.
And no I haven't contacted them so I don't know about pricing or quality

From some of the blurb on the site I don't think it would stand up to the punishment of combat:

Note the use of the term "injection moulding". To me that means plastic.
All of this is from the front page. Further in, under "Finishes" they state that they can Chrome finish them so that it has that realistic chainmail look and sound.
Looks Good, sounds good with the right finish, just don't get hit in it.

Jeez Louise actors are soft, i mean come on they spend half the days filming sitting on their chuff getting preened by the make up girls, and the rest in thier trailer "looking for thier motivation" i say make the bastards work for a living.

The Weta Tenzan Chain Maille is a division of Weta Workshop that makes Chainmail STRICTLY FOR TEH FILM INDUSTRY. While we have been in contact with WETA since the early development of this new type of chainmail, the now produced chain will only be sold to the film industry.
We tried to ask for two suits for an exceptionally challenging horse display and not even that convinced them to sell as some chain.
Plus, it is only good for LOOKS, HOWEVER, NOT FUNCTIONAL. Just wanted to clarify that...

Steel Chainmaille
Weta Tenzan Chainmaille will stand up to most of the rigours of a film set and is suitable for normal acting and light stunt work. However, for specialist needs and for high impact stunt work and re-enactment purposes, Weta Tenzan makes steel chainmaille to the same standards as
our lightweight product.
This was the paragraph that caught my eye and made me think it might be worth investigating further. From others comments though it sounds like they are being prissy just cause they helped win a few dozen Oscers.
And Carl I agree, whip all actors and tell them to get a life.

SN in India now make plastic chain maille that other than being plastic looks like the real thing inthe photos they sent me.
Plastic maille is obviously not "NAMMA legal" (or useful for any form of combat) but it is useful for props and displays. For example a lot of us get asked to hire out our armour for weddings and other functions. I'm always wary about this because of the amount of $ I've invested in my kit. But if a club had a set of plastic maille harness it could instead hire this out rather than the more expensive real armour as a means to help raise club funds.
While I haven't handled any of SN's plastic maille, I have just received a group order of real maille from SN which I am very happy with in terms of the quality of the product and service from this manufacturer.
(SN provide rivetted maille for the overseas suppliers like Historic Enterprises, GDFB, etc. and we sourced the same items directly from the manufacturer for less than half the price all up than had we sourced them through one of these providers.)
SN tend to take only larger commercial orders and our local group order was quite small for them. However any business is good business and they are happy to deal with me again. So if people want low-cost high quality real or plastic maille let me know and once I have enough interest we can put through another group order.

Note as `we` (lavana textiles) supplied 2 runs of knitted fabric
I can assure one and all it wont stand up to extended wear.
let alone any form of combat the textile was based upon our
swimwear lining and was 85%cotton 15% rayon ie don`t
bother with fabric stuff
noting also the bulk of their period costume will be knitted not woven
thus not much point
If you want chain do it the old fashioned way and make it your self
or nowadays you can get riveted chain for a very good price
DO NOT FALL INTO THE SHE WILL BE ALLRIGHT TRAP WE SEE
SO OFTEN IN OUR KITS THIS IS AN INVOLVED HOBBY AFTER ALL
HAVE SOME PRIDE AND SELF WORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WOULD FAR RATHER SEE AN HONEST AND NOT QUITE ALLTHERE
ATTEMPT THAN A VISA SLIP AND A WHATEVER PURCHASE
