Isn't this a book stand sort of item, where as you place the book open on its back with the sides up a little so the pages don't close up like when you have a book laying open flat??

That is what we thought but if memory serves this was advertised as a foot stool! It seems to meit may just be one of those objects that is not what it seems to be, but then again you could be wright, just wanted to get a few other peoples thoughts.[/i]

Yeah - I'm sure it is a portable book-rest, to sit on an alter or a table.

I have one in my house from Egypt, sold as a book rest, certainly protects the spine on heavy & large books ... used as a bookrest. But then, if it was kept at floor level, i daresay it would be used to rest feet too

I would have said a stand for a Bible/Koran/Torah. Not a good combination with feet.
