Please do not skim read any of this

The below is broken into the ISSUES raised and the SOLUTIONS people have suggested

The SOLUTIONS are NOT the agreed upon solutions – they are simply the solutions that have been suggested so far

The below are YOUR WORDS people – taken from your posts, if i have missed anything it was not intentional – please let us know

very wise words....
we need clear communication from OLD to NEW people and then back again in all we do – so tell everyone you know about these threads and even if they don't think GD is a good forum for this / have access – help them to view it, or get them on here to follow and discuss from the beginning of the threads

When we finally come together to discuss these issues and to come to some conclusions please remember

come to the table
swallow your pride
listen respectfully
our similarities should engulf our differences
we are all there for each others sake and the love of our community and sport

Suggested steps for action now

discuss some more
consolidate
arrange a meeting place to place down some rules etc???? thoughts on this?

POSSIBLE GOVERNING BODY

ISSUES

if we do not seek to regulate ourselves as a community then regulation WILL be imposed upon us

we do not have a governing body to record injuries and tally them

ACC takes care of all our injuries and issues associated

we have changed as a community so we must adapt as a community in order to evolve and maintain safety

Gathering Darkness as a forum does not reach everyone in the community – people think it does not work/ it is not worth coming onto

SOLUTIONS

shouldn't let ego and personal opinions of others get in the way

meeting for those who wish to discuss these things in order to establish an outcome to be arranged – whoever comes does not have to belong to a club as there are independents out there

club captains to get together to discussion

there are BASIC agreed upon

rules
safety equipment
everything on top of that is for the tournament
organiser to decide

it needs to come from a club level to train their members safely

anyone who is skeptical / a nay-sayer – step aside and let productive steps be made

NAAMA is an example of how we can and have all come to the table

NEW BODY - not associated with NAAMA to be formed - for geographical and past association issues

Hi
I am new to the forum and have been reading the posts with great interest. It seems to me that the issue of the safety of combatants is paramount in your discussions, there will be some injuries as it is the nature of the activity, but these should be minimized. There is a three fold way of doing this:

1 Have a panel made up of the experienced members of the different groups to sit and assess a combatants ability to move into a level. This could be at an annual meet or at a meet particularly for this purpose. This would create a nation-wide standard. Some groups are quite small and would not have the ability to gain as much experience as a larger group.

2 Create a database of those combatants in the different levels, each combatant at a particular level wears a token of a particular colour. The lists would be available at each meet.

3 The Marshalls get together and decide between themselves what is classed as safe or not. These codes are used at all meets and would again be standard nationally and at all levels.

I apologize if I am butting in
