when I started recently at Taupo I had made my first undershirts from natural dyed material. I got a green from fennel and a brown from tea. I found that preparation was what took most of the time. I mordanted with a pre mordant of tannin, alum alum- that is overnight in tannin, rinse, 8 hours in alum rinse and dry, 8 hours in alum, rinse and then into the dye pot. have the ratios for both the brown and green if anyone is interested - weight of dye material to dry weight of cloth which was linen ramey mix.
If any one has ratios for turmeric _________________ Richard www.tinderbox.co.nz |
