Good opportunities exist in a well established company for individuals of Roman Imperial and auxiliary origins with experience in established seige craft.

Pay and conditions generous. Must be willing to submit to Militant Clerical Authority for duration of hostilities. (Although secular fealty will be considered in a Justinian context.)

Please apply in person to Castelleon de la Bogue, NAAMA.

And ten years later Arminius was dead the tribes as fractional as before.

All three eagles were recovered and being a German was an unhealthy occupation.

Hmm.

We'll need hammer hands and a bit of grunt.

Bring a clutch of tools and any spare coach bolts you can rustle.

Augur with a good bit size maybe.

Scrap heap challenge guys.

No Cash should be expended, this is a dumpster dive from start to finish.

Murray, It still took 33 years to recover all of the Eagles and the 3 Legions were never reconstructed. While it may have been painful to be German at the time thereafter, the Roman army had never fully controlled Germania

Hi Nathan. I didn't know you had Ancient Germanic/Auxillary/Barbarian equipment! Had I known that you could have had a part(small) in our documentary movie! All the gear I've seen you field was some sort of crusader medieval.?
Augustus advised his descendents not to bother with Germania as it was uneconomic and it is Economics that largely determines whether empires succed or fail. Arminius' own relatives and comrades sent his severed head back to the Romans who considered honour had been served by the campaign of Germanicus across the Rhine.
Which was not dissimilar to the suppression of Ariovistus by Julius Caesar or the campaigns of Domitian there. Or indeed Marius against the Cimbri and the Teutones and many others. On the other hand the Visi did very well at Adrianople. So what, its all History!
Still curious to see your Germanic ancient equipment?

Nathan, Armilus was dead, the eagles were recovered the German tribes fractional.

Rome was frequently and more convincingly hurt than the loss of three legions.

Cannae: Over 60,000 casualties. Listed as one of thirty costliest battles in history

Hannibal recalled by all as a master tactician who slapped the Romans around on their home turf. Yet they pursued his with such reletless detimination that his nation was destroyed and he commited suicide.

Arausio: Over 80,00 combatants killed, at least 20 legions completely destroyed. Marius punted the Germans all the way back to the forests for their troubles.

Focusing on the tempory defeats of Rome you do a disservice to history and by not following the outcome of these alledged victories for their enemies you gain a false impression of the resilience of the Roman military machine. Many of these apparent victors would have been a lot better off if they had not won.

Its not that Rome produced some realy bad commanders on a regular bisis, hell everyone can do that, its their capacity for soaking up massive defeats and coming back from them that made them so dangerous. Thats way we use the language we do and everyone on the other side of the Rhine as them funny backwards letters and we regularly duff eachother over.

Three legions ulimately was a little more than a minor inconvienience and their numbers were not used again because Augustus and a tendency towards overly emotional decision making. Hell he had a civil war largely because someone dissed his sister.

Murray,

yeah... but,

Nero ran one of the most successful pacification campaigns against the Germans simply by manipulating the grain markets at the boarder forts.

I don't recall Roman efforts against the Parthians being as successful in a strategic context as those against other foes.

ay...

Heavens sake some of the PBLs ended up slaves in China!

Would this be the ram that I just just shipped to Wellington in order to ship it the venue or would this be a completely different ram we're not talking about? That would mean muiltiple rams. Found clay for manganol ammunition just out of interest. Also many lemons for bio/citric warfare use.

Conal: Yeah but.... Rome Rules, barbarians drool!

I must put that on a t-shirt.

Btw very good demonstration of that principle by you in raw DVD footage I've been looking at from WMD. I suspect not much will make the final cut. So messy.

Cone of silence thing again?
