Luckily we decided to day-trip to Crown because the event was attended by many old friends and impressive oversea visitors. There were tournaments (rapier), that were beautifully announced and executed, a market at lunch time and, of course, court (short and very entertaining!). Overall, the hospitality of SCAdians and especially Dartonians stands out.
On a personal note, I finally made a point of obtaining Equestrian Authorization for both General Riding and Mounted Games, with Mounted Crest Combat and Horsearchery on its way. I am especially looking forward to this in order to advocate the involvement of horses in reenactment; plus, such non-competitive activities allow the experimentation with such tack as neckrings and riding in full-circle dresses and side-saddles.
The equestrian scene continues to grow! |
