Agree fully. For general melee battles, announced lobbed archery and free-fire javelins only.
I would however like to run a special battle for those who've got the minimum archery-safe kit where we do direct-fire unannounced archery right into melee troops. This could mean that only the attacking force requires archery safe kit and only the defenders have missiles, or it could mean that both forces have archery-safe kit and missiles. If we have enough people keen, then we'll do it. I'll make another post shortly about archery-safe kit expectations on the General forum, so watch that space.
I'd be keen to see siege into that special battle too, but that will depend on individual engines and their ability to lob tenis balls or other 'safe' ammunition. To my mind this battle would be more intense, more realistic and more fun.
