I am looking at buying some 3 D animal targets to set up a "hunting range" on our property for people to capture the thrill of the hunt (both for foot archery and mounted hunting) without having to kill anything.
I would be looking at having an "open" session now and again, pretty much along similar lines to our combined horse and foot trainings.
Is there much interest among the Wellington archery community for this type of session? There will be a small charge levied to help cover some of the costs of the targets as they are quite expensive units.
Unfortunately a fire in the factory which makes the targets that I am specifically after has made them all unavailable until next year so this is something I imagine I won't be able to kick off properly until well into 2009. _________________ Callum Forbes

Grayson and I would definately be interested in that. We went along to the open day for Mana archery for their field shoot and it was heaps of fun apart from the fact that he lost all but one arrow _________________ did they beat the drums slowly

Hi Callum,
I'd be interested but probably wouldn't make it very often.
Cheers,

I won't be there this weekend. I'll be in and out of helicopters all day.

Is that like some extreeeeeme repeat bungee thing.
As long as the recoil wasn't to powerful, I can see the logic, sort of.

In case anyone was wondering, there is no archery tomorrow. There's nobody available to run it and theres probably nobody keen to interupt their holidays to come anyway. So, see you all on the 10th January at Harcourt Park Grail of Chivalry. If anyone is keen to do archery the previous weekend let me know and we'll arrange something if theres enough people.

Just a note for those who might be wondering - there will be archery this weekend, same time, same place. There will also be some new people there, so come along and have fun showing them the ropes.
Cheers,

We had a blast yesterday! Thanks to everyone who made this possible. My thanks to Andy patiently explaining and showing me how to shoot again, and again, and again ...

IMPORTANT
There will be no archery meeting on 14th February as planned. This conflicts with the Levin Medieval Market and both Andy and myselfl will be committed elsewhere and unable to run it.
If anyone wants to step up and run it for us that would be great. Otherwise we'll skip this weekend.
We've decided to run two more sessions, on the 7th and 21st February in addition to the final session on 28th February.
We're running the extra sessions because I'd like to try and squeeze in more archery before the end of the season and to gauge popularity for running sessions over winter.
See you all there.
Cheers,
Nigel |

At this stage we are planning on running archery on the following dates:
21st February
28th February
7th March
And that's it for the season. If the weather holds and there's someone to run it we may run more over the winter period (March to August), but they will be ad-hoc with shortish notice.
See everyone there this weekend

Archery in Wellington tomorrow (21st Feb) - at this stage it's marginal but I'm prepared to wait until tomorrow morning before making a final call. Watch this space and if you're in any doubt txt me on 021 404 783. If it's canceled I'll post a cancellation notice here by 11am.
Cheers,

Hi all,
The Wellington weather forcast for Saturday 28th Feb (tomorrow) is not pleasant. At this stage it's likely that archery will be cancelled. If the weather clears or the promised rain never comes I'll post a notice tomorrow morning before 11am. Otherwise assume it's off at this stage.
Cheers,
Nigel |
