That's quite expensive!
The original 1.33 book I got brand new for about $50 NZ. So I was suprised to see the $275US price tag for the second hand one on the Amazon link I sent you yesterday. Particularly so because the book was published less than 10 years ago (2003).
I'll bring my copy to the next Order of the Boar workshop if you like. _________________ Callum Forbes

It'd be good to see your copy of Forgeng's 2003 I..33. Cheers.
Do you have a large screen or projector in your hall? Wireless internet? I'll have more to show in September, and it'll be helpful to get feedback on what works, and what doesn't |

Nice work John.
"...some people will find it practical to learn from a
phone..." Is pretty funny too.
Great stuff. Thanks. |

Thanks Conal. Time for a new saying "The phone is mightier than the sword.".
I've been studying it, on my phone, at lunch. It is readable, with niggles. Chief being that
sometimes the text refers to another page and it is slow to get to that page. Too many
clicks, and the other page can be hard to find. At some point I'll put in links which'll solve
that.
New things:-
Positions - A page for browsing the images by position. This may help some people in deciding which foot is forward, or how the sword is held, etc
Notes - My thoughts on interpreting the I33.
Acknowledgements At the moment I'm cutting out images. I'm averaging about 8 minutes from starting to cut to
upload. I'm up to page 8. I aim to use them to publish three more plays by next weekend.
I'll create a change log on my site to help visitors work out if anything interesting has
happened since their last visit, too. |

Only this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSNphAsjry0&feature=plcp and one other. We took some 2min clips to see how we looked. From the clip linked, I need to watch the pointing of my right foot and be more ready defensive wise. Plus as we are trying to work on is getting alot closer to our opponents, and to disingage less, wind more.
To be honest working with young peoples (18-21) is good but can be rather hard with drilling and getting certain things across!
Anyway the clip is filmed on a Samsung Galaxy 'S'.
cheers. _________________ I like living.. |

Those swords are plastic, or wood? Maybe that's why winding isn't happening as often as you'd like? |

The wasters are USA oak soaked in boiled linseed and tightly wrapped in black tape, they do the job, usally to save the wasters we use steel for freeplay. We are slowly getting to wind from the bind, myself and one of the others try that most times, though its hard to stay in the bind when your opponent always disingages! Though they find out thats not always a good idea as I follow after them... _________________ I like living.. |

The I.33 recommends the same action, explicitly.
Quote: | Binder and bound are contrary and irate;
The bound flees to the side, I try to follow. |
from
Quote: | Ligans ligati contrarij sunt & irati
ligatus fugit ad partes laterum peto sequi |
Before studying the I.33 I always disengaged. Now I'm finding winding can be very useful. No doubt that's why the ancient masters recommended it |

Good call, the little I:33 I have looked into I found working from the bind useful. With the longsword working from the bind is the mastery, I havn't mastered it yet but I have the basics... _________________ I like living.. |
