I guess this counts as reenactment...and technically they're using swords...

-actually, these kids are not bad.

Does this count as HEMA ?

Let's see...
- Silly clothes - CHECK
- Self taught fighting style - CHECK
- Prefered genre/time period - CHECK
- Love/hate relationship with the general public - CHECK
- Geek friendly - CHECK

Hmm... seems to fit all the criteria ^_^

They have a really good argument for saying thiers is superior as well.

A lightsaber makes a mockery of any armor standard, and just cuts right through plain *metal* weapons....

I Like It Very Happy

It gets away from all the "True art is the only way" Bollocks that gets spouted by certain corners in historical re-enactment and simply allows you to explore movement with a weapon (yeah-yeah lightsaber is not a weapon blah-blah george silver is god yaddayaddayadda)

I have played with some of these fake lightsabers and they are lots of fun.

There's lots of flavours of bollocks in NZ medieval re-enactment...

Bollocks in NZ reenactment
1) People cheating on the field
2) People hitting too hard on the field because a) they're too stupid to control themselves, b) they're too psychopathic to care about who they're hitting or c) their ego won't let them rein themselves in
3) People deluding themselves into thinking that being good at this hobby somehow makes them a better person than people around them
4) People deluding themselves into thinking that having more accurate/hand made equipment somehow makes them a better person than people around them

If anyone finds any of them offensive then I'd have to say they're probably guilty of at least one of the above "Bollocks Crimes"
