The non authentic way of designing weaving patterns


Step one
take a bunch of columns and make them really narrow - about one third of their hight

Step two
add some colors to the squares in the first two rows

Step three
Highlight the colored bits
drag down from the bottom corner like you were getting excel to complete a series

Step four
Add grid lines to the first two lines of color
And numbers if it is long and you are prone to forgetting where you are up to

Step five
thread your loom - work from one side to the other - the top row is open threads the bottom row is heddle threads
remember every time you change color you cut the old thread and tie on the new color

I't not entirely intuitive but if I can teach myself to use it anyone can.
