I wouldn't stick that in my ear!!! Although how they figured it was an earspoon (apart from the obvious research lol) reminds me of the little mermaid using a fork as a comb.... I always wonder if they are completely correct...

Heritage professionals mis-interpreting an item? Never! Ne-ever!
If it's not an earspoon then its obviously a "votive object"
